Our client is a national leader in the wholesale mortgage industry with a focus on servicing the independent agent community with World Class service and developing software that gives the company an edge in the marketplace. The company has aggressive growth targets which are creating a demand for talented individuals to join their IT organization and support multiple lines of business. They are hiring a Database Administrator to provide technical leadership and support on all the stages of Database architecture, implementation and database-related operational support. This is a permanent hire position.
Responsibilities:
- Installation and configuration of new databases instances when necessary, and conducting upgrades and patch applications when appropriate
- Design, implement and maintain database security based on company policy, best practices and any regulatory requirements
- Provide solutions to development teams when proposed architecture does not comply with architectural, performance or security guidelines
- Resolve database performance issues using all available tools and take corrective actions when necessary
- Work with the development teams to ensure a solid understanding of the application and database requirements exist and configure database structures and parameters accordingly
- Communicate to business customers, technical teams and management in a consistent manner making complex technical issues and solutions clear, simple and understandable
- Possess overall understanding of IT architecture, infrastructure standards, database platforms and programming languages and tools
- Go-to technical resource as it relates to database physical data storage, maintenance & security
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of Data Management philosophies and apply them to existing and to-be architectures
- Ability to produce clear documentation around reoccurring processes
- Forward thinking, proactive approach to monitoring all databases
- Ability to provide accurate resource and capacity planning
- Manage backup and disaster recovery plans for all databases

Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in database administration/database engineer roles in a clustered/high-availability environment
- 3-5+ years of experience in database administration in a clustered/high-availability environment
- SQL Server 2008 R2, 2012 or above Database Administration and Management
- Proven track record managing multiple database instances simultaneously
- Experience administering mission-critical transactional and decision support databases
- Experience with SQL Server High Availability technologies
- Experience with SSIS and other ETL application support
- Experience with setup and maintenance of SQL Server transactional & snapshot replication
- Provide after-hours support when necessary
- Computer-related degree or equivalent work experience
- SQL Server 2014 Database Administration and Management (Preferred)
- MCDBA certification (Preferred)
- SSAS and SSRS administration experience (Preferred)
- Experience in managing Windows servers a plus
- Experience in working cohesively with Enterprise Infrastructure teams (Preferred)
- Experience with utilizing database snapshots as a backup / restore strategy (Preferred)
- Familiarity with data warehouse architectures & data encryption technologies (Preferred)
